TD Bank Group (TD) and Cricket Canada have announced a new sponsorship agreement aimed at fostering the growth and development of cricket across Canada.

As part of this partnership, TD will become the official bank of Cricket Canada’s national teams, supporting the organization’s efforts to strengthen the country’s thriving cricket community. The sponsorship will help Cricket Canada enhance grassroots development programs and create more opportunities for young fans and enthusiasts to engage with the National Teams and players.

Cricket’s rising popularity in Canada can largely be traced to immigration from cricket-playing nations, according to Cultural IQ’s 2022 report.

The report highlights the influence of “South Asian fandom,” driven by the increasing number of immigrants from South Asia. Additionally, over one-quarter (28%) of survey respondents identified themselves as super fans of the sport.

As cricket’s popularity continues to rise in Canada, TD’s sponsorship of Cricket Canada will help drive this growth through various community engagement initiatives.

By 2025, TD will also be the Official Sponsor of Cricket Canada’s Women’s Team.

Cricket Canada is gearing up for a milestone year in 2024. After their historic debut in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, the men’s team has a packed schedule ahead. Ranked 23rd in T20Is and 15th in ODIs in the ICC Rankings, they are preparing for several international tournaments. The team remains unbeaten in the ODI CWC Super League, which serves as a qualifying pathway for the 50-over World Cup, and they aim to maintain this strong performance.
